Editorial Policy
How we research, write, source, and review the content on this site.
Extra Place is an editorial resource on matched betting, sign-up offers, and the operators that run them. Our credibility is the only reason readers trust the picks here — and the only reason regulators (the Advertising Standards Authority, the Gambling Commission) consider this site a legitimate information source rather than a promotional vehicle. This policy documents how the content is made.
Independence
Extra Place is independently operated. We do not accept payment in exchange for favourable coverage, do not allow operators to review or alter editorial content before publication, and do not adjust rankings based on commission rates. Affiliate relationships are disclosed on the affiliate disclosure page; sign-up bonus terms are quoted from the operator's published rules and dated.
Responsible gambling first
Matched betting is a maths-led process for extracting expected value from bookmaker sign-up offers — not gambling for entertainment. Every guide here reinforces the same point: stake amounts you can afford to lose, treat the activity as a part-time income at best, never chase losses, and stop immediately if the activity stops feeling like cold arithmetic. Our responsible gambling page sets out warning signs and the support services (GamCare, BeGambleAware) we link to consistently.
Sourcing
Reviews and guides on this site are research-led. We cite primary sources where possible — operator terms and conditions, Gambling Commission licence registers, ASA rulings on gambling advertising, peer-reviewed papers on problem gambling, and on-the-record statements from operators and matched-betting platforms. Where a claim has no supporting source, we say so plainly rather than asserting it as fact.
We do not quote or paraphrase content from competing matched-betting sites or affiliate review pages without attribution, and we do not republish customer reviews from Reddit, Trustpilot, or other UGC sources as our own.
Accuracy and corrections
Every published article is reviewed by a human editor for factual accuracy before publication. Sign-up offer terms, bonus amounts, wagering requirements, and minimum-odds rules change frequently; we date every review and refresh material changes on a rolling basis. If you spot a factual error — or, more importantly, an offer that has been withdrawn or had its terms tightened — please flag it. We will correct it, date the correction, and note what was changed.
What we will not publish
- Fabricated first-person experience ("I made £X with this offer last week") that did not happen.
- Fabricated reader testimonials, screenshots, or profit logs from people who do not exist.
- Invented credentials, certifications, or professional-gambler authority.
- Claims of guaranteed profit. Matched betting is mathematically expected-value-positive, but bookmaker restrictions, mistakes, and offer changes are real risks we always disclose.
- Statistics without a citable source.
- Promotion of operators we believe are operating outside the UK Gambling Commission's licence framework or whose terms are predatory.
